The Great Gatsby- A SNEAK PEEK!

I had the honor and privilege to go to a sneak viewing of the latest remake of an awesome American classic novel...The Great Gatsby.  Thank you Charlotte Tidbits  (www.charlottetidbits.com)!

I was hoping I would have time to re-read the novel before viewing the movie but the opportunity arose to see it early and I jumped on it!  While I sat next to the Charlotte press, all I could think about was also writing about the amazing job that this team has done on capturing the fashion and feel of the roaring 20s.

The use of crystals was throughout the movie.  Not just on the costumes, but the decor and 3D effects as well.  Tiffany's is given credit for all the jewels that are used in the movie.  I can only imagine how much was spent on the diamonds that are shown.  At one point "Daisy" is wearing a dress covered in, not just sequins, but large crystals.  I can not help but wonder how heavy this dress was? None the less...it was a stunner.  I can not wait to see what trends this creates!

Since the movie was in 3D, the use of glitter and confetti made for an entertaining dance for the eyes.  Dancing (with feet) was also a huge win for the movie makers.  The sound track (which I will be purchasing as soon as it is released) featured Lana Del Ray, Florence and the Machine, Jay-Z and of course Beyonce.  Wondering how they worked rap into a 20s movie??  We he does and he does it in such a way that you want to immediately get a dance lesson and learn how to Tango. Leo..can you teach me?

"Daisy"  wears head pieces in almost every scene.  The one seen above, had to be made by the Tiffany team.  It is dripping in diamonds with a pink tie back.  The attention to detail is precise and methodical. Below the more casual printed scarf is a beautiful touch to her all black costume.

Vogue released a few drawn images behind the inspiration from Prada.  Whom provided most of the fashion for the movie.  (http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/08/23/miuccia-prada-designs-costumes-for-the-great-gatsby)

I think that all of the hard work on the costumes will definitely win some major awards.  Visually very exciting.  Your eyes will delight!  I highly recommend seeing this masterpiece to be inspired for what surely will be a new fashion trend!
